We are a small business that sells knitted scalemail goods, both custom and artist designed items. Please see the About Us tab for more information!
Our form of scalemail is not the traditional scales being linked by rings. We hand knit together all of our scales. Our knitted scalemail allows for light weight, comfortable wear! Our projects are primarily used only for costume. We do not recommend it for outdoor or strenuous activities.
We have a large variety of scale types: aluminum (the most popular), plastic, and steel. The aluminum and plastic are very light weight! The largest tails (45-50 inches long) we’ve made have yet to be more than 5 pounds. Our largest gauntlets tend to be around 2.5 pounds an arm, plus the larger ones come with elastic bands near the top and they take off most of the weight.
The steel scales, however, are quite heavy. We will not make large items out of steel because we don’t want to give you a product that has the possibility of being easily damaged.
Most of our scalemail products are made with aluminum, although we do offer plastic and steel options. We knit them together using thicker yarns that are not prone to ripping easily.
Theringlord.com is a wonderful source for scalemail and chainmaille resources! We highly recommend them!
In regards to yarn, we strictly use thick acrylic yarn, not wool. It is up to the buyer to know if they will have a skin/allergic reaction to the materials.
Our prices range $10-200 for single items. Check out our Products and Prices page for more information!
We are not currently offering our patterns.
We were originally inspired by a maker who released their technique online. However, shortly have trying their technqiue, we were not satsified by it. So we have developed our own stitching for the scales and then expanded that to our own patterning.

We’ve been making scalemail stuff for around 2 years and so far, we have not received any complaints. We cannot speak for long term yet just because our products are still pretty young. From our experiences, however, if the products are properly cared for, ripping shouldn’t be a problem.
The only problem we have ran into is with a personal project. We have a large tail made with XL Tempered High Carbon Steel Scales. The punched holes on those are extremely sharp compared to the normal aluminum and plastic scales. We have only had a problem with those ripping through yarn.
This is a difficult one to answer as it also involves personal tolerances.
When wearing the gauntlets, they are designed that you can feel a small tingle of them against your skin when they jingle around.
The scales are conductive of temperatures. If an environment is hot or cold, the scales will heat up or cool down. Typically, they are on the cooler side. So normally, if you are a little warm, jingling the scales around lightly can give a sense of relief.
Say you are in direct sunlight with black scales, your gauntlets are going to heat up just like any other black metallic object.
If you are interested in wearing these in the winter, we suggest wearing a small layer, like under armor, underneath the gauntlets to stay warm from the cold tingly scales.
We make all of our gauntlets to custom fit the buyers! With each commission, we require the buyer to provide specific measurements following our instructions. We create gauntlets for all body types; no discrimination!
After many attempts with making an articulated tail, we are discontinuing efforts. The skeletons we made were fine but the weigh of scalemail bogged it down every time and was snapping our materials.
We apologize if you were looking forward to articulated scalemail tails.
We will not be making articulated skeletons for sale.
**Custom Commissions Must Be Open. See the Home Page to check if we are open**
In order to get a custom commission, you must fill out the provided Google form to your best ability. This form is released for a few days at select times of the year. We only accept commission requests that go through that form.
We require reading through our Terms of Service page prior to filling out a form.
Since we only open this form a few times a year, we do have an emailing list that receives in depth updates on our opening plans. If you would like to be added to that, please email us and tell us what email(s) you would like added to that! We do not spam this mailing list, usually only an email or two a month.
The only exception to this is customs that go through our Etsy shop. Those customs are very simple, perfect for those who want small items with only one color. Complex adjustments cannot be made to these orders.

Due to our lower prices, we cannot afford to give discounts regularly.
If we ever offer a deal, it will normally be on our keychains.
We ship everywhere! The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and custom import charges.
If we over charge on shipping, we will always refund the difference unless instructed otherwise.
Our current plans for 2018 are:
Motor City Furry Convention - Novi, Michigan, USA.
Midwest FurFest - Rosemont, Illinois, USA - Depending if we get into Dealers Den.
We are sorry but we do not.
Scalemail is too expensive and time consuming to partake in trades.
They have a distinct present sound that is a little higher pitched. Do not try being a ninja in these!
They are not obnoxiously loud but they do make a decent amount of noise. Check out our YouTube channel to hear and see them in action!

No, but he's a good friend! Follow him here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/falindrith/
However, we did make this partial suit: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24005278/
We have only made 1 so far for personal experimentation. We may or may not make more in future. For now, we do not make them, so they are not offered for custom commissioning.
