Reference Sheets and Standard Patterns!

Reference sheets are our new way of making exactly what you want! We can follow these coloring sheets very accurately so if you have complex ideas or designs, we can replicate it!

If you would like to create your own pattern, please download the files below and follow instructions! Please follow them accurately so there is no miscommunication. If you have any questions, please private message our facebook page or email us!

**THE COLOR SWATCHES ON THE SHEETS DO NOT REPRESENT THE ACTUAL SCALE COLORS**

Please see our scale color tab for actual scale colors. The sheets also do not represent all available colors, ie the nonstandard colors like bright sky blue. If you would like to use a nonrepresented color, simply swatch in a new color and make note of what it represents in the note sections.

We can also use laser etched from theringlord.com . If you are interested in those, please see their catalog. Reminder that we only use large scale sizes. To represent them on a coloring sheet, it is common to do 1 of the following:

1. Use a high contrast color to fill in the scale where you want the laser etching to go.

2. Use a dot or other symbol on top of the scale where you want it to go.

Either way, they are just like the nonstandard colored scales in that we require a coloring sheet submitted when it comes to custom commissioning.

Be sure to also note what laser etching on what color you would like in the notes section.

Laser Etched Catalog Here

In addition to creating your own designs, we have standard artistic designs that you can order from. The colors represented in them do not have to reflect what you would like, but more of a visual contrast so we can knit faster! If filling out  a custom commission form, simple say in the scale pattern section under "Other" what pattern you would like. Then in additional comments, put what color you would like to go where.

These references are to only be used for our products (quotes/commissions). Other scalemailers are not permitted to use these sheets for profitable gain.  These may be used for personal use with permission. Please email us before using for personal use.

Permission is not needed if you are using these for our products.

Blank Reference Sheets:

Here are what the blank reference sheets look like. If wix is not allowing a clear download (compressing the files so bad it's blurry), please email us! We can easily email you a .zip file with all the files in high resolution.

You can click on the images and there should be a download option!

Reference Sheet Guidelines and Submission:

Please follow these steps for creating a reference base. This will help you and us stay organized! Please see the guidelines below this BEFORE filling out a reference sheet.

1. Download desired reference base.

2. Upload into a digital software. Free software includes Microsoft Paint and Gimp. Photoshop and other programs also work.

3. Swatch sample the colors on the left and paint bucket fill in the scales. One scale can only be one color. Do not fill in the black lines that separate the scales.

-Common Mistake: If using the black swatch, be extra cautious to not fill in the lines. The swatch black and scale lines black is slightly different. If you fill that in, it makes our job much harder and slower making your product.

4. Fill in the checkbox that corresponds to the colors you use.

5. Insert your name and any additional notes into the box near the bottom.

6. Save file as "<Name>_<ItemSize>_ReferenceSheet" as a .png or high resolution .jpeg

7. Upload it to a credible website to link to us later.

-ex: Google Drive, Dropbox, DeviantArt, FurAffinity, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Imgur, etc.

8. Hang on to the file in case the linked version compresses/corrupts. Be prepared to email us a high resolution version in case that happens!

Please follow these guidelines to accurately make a good reference sheet!

1. Use only a high resolution file. When we begin working off of these, we are zooming in with a mobile device. If the file is not high resolution, we cannot zoom in, so we cannot see your pattern as accurately.

2. Unless your reference is primarily black scales, do not fill in the black scale outline. If your reference is primarily black or dark colors, turn it white.

3. The colors on the left is not representative of all of our available colors. Examples: Pink, SkyBlue, Lilac, etc. If you would like to use a color that is not on the left, please use a color that is similar to what you would like (that we offer) and indicate it in the notes. Please use the exact name we give it in our color options page.

4. Spikes! Spikes are rubber from Dream Vision Creations and come with a lot of rules. After reading this and seeing examples below, feel free to contact us with questions.

4a. Spikes come in 3 sizes: 2inch, 2.5inch, and 3inch. You must indicate along the side of the item what spike size and color belongs there.

4b. 2inch spikes take up one scale spot. It replaces the scale, not placed on top of it. Do not color in the scale if you are placing a spike there. 2.5 and 3 inch spikes take up two scale spots that are vertically aligned.

4c. Spikes that are in the same line of scales must have 3 scales between them. Anything closer crunches them too much and makes the product look cluttered. 3 is the minimum, however 4 scales between them usually looks best in our opinion.

4d. Spikes can be placed on any tail size, and the top arm portion of large and xl gauntlets. They cannot be placed on keychains, bags, or small and medium gauntlets.

4e. Spikes need a little distance between the tip and base of the tail. Please allow 3 to 4 spinal vertically aligned scales from the tip of the tail before placing a spike. This is especially important on L and XL tails. Please allow 1 to 2 spinal vertically aligned scales from the base(top) of the tail. This allows the spike to sit well and deter them from getting caught on torso clothing.

5. All information must be presented in English.
